Reading Elyse Fitzpatricks newest book, Home: How Heaven and the New Earth Satisfy Our Deepest Longings, has helped me set my heart and mind heavenward. The book overflows with Scriptures and Bible-based commentaries about heaven and the New Earth. The wanderings, the turnings aside, the world-borderings of the child of God, however dishonoring to the Father, and however sad in their results to the child of God himself, must not be confounded with the unchangeable truth of his having eternal life in Christ. We turn to the book of Psalms, the Old Testament treasury of longings after God.

An eternal perspective is a way of seeing the pain, pleasure, and purpose of our lives as part of the redemptive story God is orchestrating. It is seeing through the daily grind, the tumultuous highs, and the frequent lows to the destination of eternity. Everyone is destined for eternity: some will experience eternal life and some, eternal death. She rectifies the misapprehension and explains to Freud the poem's echoing of and influence on Nietzsche's affirmation of life in his doctrine of life's Eternal Recurrence, whereupon, to the thought of the recurrence of the selfsame life, Freud responds: 'One bad cold would cure me of such a desire.'.

All things were created through Him and for Him. The great Architect is building an eternal dwelling place designed specifically for you according to your hopes, desires, and longings. He who is intimately acquainted with our ways and desires knows exactly what’s in our hearts even more than we do.
